The NVD Music Department, led by Mrs. Wheeler and Mr. Meszaros, traveled to Philadelphia to participate in a Heritage Festival. Part of the busy schedule included students taking a historic walking tour of Old Town Philadelphia and visiting The Franklin Institute. At the festival, the students performed at the historic Franklin Learning Center in downtown Philadelphia for adjudicators from across the country. Each performing ensemble worked with one of the adjudicators in a brief clinic after their performance, receiving valuable feedback and insights. We're very proud of the student accomplishments that were recognized at an awards banquet at the conclusion of the festival, and listed below.

14 NVD juniors were inducted into the Japanese National Honor Society. Carson J. Sam L. and Roy S. were awarded special commendation. The event culminated in tea ceremony master Keiko Kitazawa conducting the 15th century ritual of making and serving matcha tea with a whisk.

This morning the Latin 3 students had the opportunity to hear from Francesca Costa (NVD 2015) who discussed her study of Ancient Rome and its place in British history in her presentation entitled "Frontier Identities Along Hadrian's Wall."
Francesca studied Classics in both undergraduate and graduate programs and currently works as a public historian. In addition to sharing her findings of Roman and British ancient art forms, she shared her appreciation for the Latin program at NVD and how it prepared her well for graduate and post graduate work, both nationally and internationally. #NVDpride #SuperNV
