English 4: Literature and Philosophy of Asia learned about Chuseok or Hangawi (9/16-9/18/24), one of the most important Korean holidays. Similar to American Thanksgiving, it is a day that celebrates a good harvest and reverence for ancestors. Those who celebrate this joyous holiday spend it with their family members while enjoying good food and music. The class learned about the holiday's origins, replicated many traditional Chuseok dishes such as songpyeon (half moon shaped rice cakes), jeon (savory pancakes), and listened to both traditional and modern Korean music.
